Preparing your product data file

How to setup a successful product import into PIMworks


  1. To get the template to upload product file, login to PIMworks.
  2. Navigate to Import/Export > Import.
  3. Click on 'Download template' to download the instruction sheet.




1. Required Fields:


    SKU*:

  • Every product within PIMworks must possess a unique SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). This serves as the product's distinct identifier within the system.
  • Ensure that your spreadsheet contains a dedicated SKU column.

   

    Taxonomy Node*:

  • Each product in PIMworks is required to be associated with a Taxonomy node.
  • This field is mandatory when creating a product and must have been previously established in PIMworks.
This field can be left blank while updating an existing product


2. Other Fields:


    Parent SKU:    

        When creating product variants, it's essential to specify the SKU of the parent product in the "Parent     SKU" column

    Action:      

         In the file, utilize the "Action" column exclusively for the following values:

  • Insert - To create a new product.
  • Update - To modify an existing product.
  • Delete - To remove a product.


PIMworks defaults to Insert if no action is specified, attempting to create the product.


Channel:

  • Specify the channel name (only for subscribed channels) where you intend to update product details.
  • This field is mandatory when the store name is included.


Store Name:

  • Mention the store name (only for stores added within subscribed channels) where you wish to update product information.
  • This field becomes mandatory when the channel name is included.


Product creation and deletion is possible only in Master channel, affecting all subscribed channels and stores.
Users can to update product information at the channel or store level as needed.


3. Custom Fields:


    You can create upto 1990 custom attributes in your account 


4. Required Settings:


    In your spreadsheet…

  • Ensure that the first row of your sheet contains the list of attributes
  • Starting from the second row onward, you can input attribute values for your products
  • When dealing with Taxonomy nodes, use the '>' symbol to distinguish between the meta and sub-taxonomy nodes
  • When dealing with Categories, use the '/' symbol to distinguish between the meta node and its sub-nodes. Use '||' as a delimiter if you wish to assign multiple categories to a product
  • For attributes with a data type of 'Tag,' which typically indicates keywords, use '||' as a delimiter when adding multiple keywords for the attribute
  • To link images from your assets to specific products, specify the image file name in the Image attribute field of the product
  • Date should be formatted as MM/DD/YYYY
  • If your data includes both date and time, use the format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS


5. Mapping Attributes


In Match Label step...

  • Associate SKU, Taxonomy Node, Parent SKU, Action, Channel, and Store Name with the corresponding default attributes in PIMworks
  • Map Category information to the Breadcrumb attribute
  • Map Custom attributes to the attributes available in the PIMworks attribute master
  • Ensure there are no duplicate mappings of attributes in the file to the same PIMworks attribute


Please avoid including empty sheets. If any sheets are empty, kindly remove them from the Excel file before importing. 

You can have and manage multiple taxonomy node in a single sheet


Supported file formats are .xlsx, .csv


When uploading a file in csv format, the system will prompt you to choose the delimiter for the file. Choose the delimiter to continue.


Make sure the file size does not exceed 10MB


6. File Import


        Choose the source and import your file
