Auto mapping Images to Products

Modified on Sat, 16 Sep, 2023 at 8:02 PM

Who can use this feature?

Super users and PIM Users with Read/Write permission for the Import, Digital Assets and Image AutoMapping module

Available on Accounts with Subscription to Import, Digital Assets and Image AutoMapping module

The auto-mapping functionality for images specifically applies to images named in the format "sku_numeric.filetype."

1. Navigate to Product > Digital Assets under Products and upload the images in the mentioned format.

2. After uploading the images, the system automatically triggers the image auto-mapping function when a product gets created with the SKU mentioned in image file.

This happens when creating a product on-screen, performing input imports, and using PIMworks API.

3. The auto mapping of multiple images in a product is based on the display order of the image attribute.

If the display order is not configured for a taxonomy node, the system will take default mapping of attribute order mapped for a taxonomy

4. The image auto mapping function relies on the name of the image file,

  1. If an image's name is similar to the product SKU, it will be mapped to the first image attribute

  2. If an image is named "sku_01" , it will be mapped to the second image attribute while "sku_02" will be mapped to the third image attribute.

For Instance :

When user upload images with the names TLG54, TLG54_01, TLG54_02 to the digital assets and create a new product with the SKU TLG54, the automapping function will come into play. Only three images will be automatically mapped as follows:

  1. TLG54 will be mapped to Image1 attribute,
  2. TLG54_01 will be mapped to Image2 attribute,
  3. TLG54_02 will be mapped to Image3 attribute.

Order of image attribute is based on the order of image mapped to the taxonomy node

{SKU}_{alphanumeric characters} will not be automatically mapped as it contain alphanumeric characters next to underscore

The automatic mapping of images will only occur if the data for the images is blank. If the images are already populated in import file or through the PIMworks API, the auto-mapping process will be skipped

Users can edit/replace the existing images as required

When multiple folders have the same image name, the image which is created first will be mapped
